Shalom Austin’s Dell Jewish Community Center merges heritage with modern design
Community centers serve as vital hubs that unite residents, fostering a sense of belonging and shared experiences.
However, their design and financial planning often involve a delicate balancing act between anticipated costs and the community's aspirations.
The success of Shalom Austin’s Dell Jewish Community Center (DJCC) in northwest Austin, Texas, underscores the power of master planning in bridging this divide.
Shalom Austin recognized the need to update and expand its campus to serve its diverse population's evolving needs. This involved renovating existing infrastructure, including a 40,000-square-foot renovation and reorganization of the existing community building, modernizing the aquatic program, and adding new tennis/pickleball facilities, a substantial 46,000-square-foot refurbishment of the educational building, and the centerpiece: a new 40,000-square-foot community and fitness building. This comprehensive project underscores DJCC's commitment to community growth, diversity, and wellness.
