How aquatic group-exercise classes enhance lifelong health
Health is the most important aspect in life. An individual’s health allows one to experience life freely and make the most of it. Holistic wellness considers multidimensional aspects of wellness. It encourages people to think about physical, mental, emotional, social, intellectual, and spiritual aspects. Some people find their stride to health through yoga, running, or cardio fitness, while others dive into the pool of fitness in their own way.
Members at the Liberty Community Center rave about aquatic group exercise and how it has helped improve their overall health, both physically and mentally, achieve their health goals, and add a little fun and socialization into their lives. There are 22 classes held each week, including Aquacize, Water Aerobics, and Aqua Zumba.
Janey Taylor, who attends the Water Aerobics class almost every Thursday, has seen a huge improvement in her overall health since she started moving in the water consistently. She struggled with an illness for 12 years, and aquatic group exercise has helped turn her health around.
“I had surgery a year ago to correct this [illness-related] problem,” Taylor says. “After my surgery I realized how weak my body was. Within a few weeks of going to Aquatics, I could feel my legs and body getting stronger. I went back to my neurologist, and he was delighted. He had me walk on my toes and my heels over and over again and was so excited that the Aquatics had helped so much.”
