‘What Are You Getting?’ ensures that youth athletes have meaningful experiences
Every year, one of our staff’s best experiences involves reviewing the many applications for the Excellence in Youth Sports Award. The award is presented to organizations for a specific initiative, process, project, campaign, element, or component of a program that goes above and beyond.
It is so inspiring and rewarding to read about the innovative programs in youth sports associations, at parks and recreation departments, and on military bases worldwide. But it also gives the staff a chance to learn what is important to those organizations doing such great things at a local level. Many of those ideas end up in our trainings or as part of our resources. Several years ago, one organization developed a campaign that inspired our Bullying Prevention training.
